Yankees Win Again!!!
Yankees 32 Worcester 10

The Connecticut Yankees have been working hard to improve this season, and
now it is beginning to show on the pitch. After shutting out The Village
Lions last weekend at home the Yankees took their show on the road to
Worcester this past weekend. The Yankees came out of the gate strong with
each member demonstrating a high level of fitness and aggression against a
surprised looking Worcester side.
The Yankees went straight after Worcester running the ball straight at
them, breaking tackle after tackle. Matt, a Yankee new comer, quickly made a
name for himself as he buried would be tacklers on his way down the pitch.
He showed up ready to play, and the Yankees look forward to playing with
Matt in the future.
Another Yankee newcomer, Tim G, displayed excellent ball skills, and
composure in the tackle. Tim was awarded with a try in his first game as a
Yankee! Other notable players were Percy and Giles in the back line. These
two continue to bewilder defenders with their combination of quickness and
power. While in the forwards Captain Eric Shrauger led the way demonstrating
his fitness until the final whistle. Doug also demonstrated more confidence
at scrum half, showing that he can take over a game, and direct the action
on the field.
The Yankees will be participating in the Newport tournament this coming
weekend. They are hopeful that their winning ways will continue as they
prepare for next fall.

Fall '07 Competitive Season Schedule

"There are plenty of teams in every sport that have great players and never win titles. Most of the time, those players aren't willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the team. The funny thing is, in the end, their unwillingness to sacrifice only makes individual goals more difficult to achieve. One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships."

Match Report

Yankees @ Wanderers 3/31/07

This past Saturday was the first test of the season for both. The Yankees
were looking as this game as a new beginning. After a disappointing fall
season the Yankees have upped their training regiment, and worked on their
recruiting to gear up for the spring.
Although the Yankees lost the game on Saturday 27-7 they saw much
potential, and improvement from the fall. The Yankees demonstrated the two
areas they have focused on this season, fitness and aggression, on the field
this Saturday. Each of the Yankees players showed their heart and effort on
the field. However, having a number of younger players on the field in new
positions ultimately beat the Yankees. Hartford was able to take
opportunities in the Yankees defense and turn them into points.
The Yankees began working more as a team as the game went on. After loosing
the first half, the Yankees out scored the Wanderers the rest of the way.
They began playing and communicating as a team, and began playing good
rugby.
Some of the younger players that shined were Doug, EJ, Smitty, and Giles
who was able to score three tries throughout the day.
This game was a great stepping-stone for the Yankee's season, giving
players experience, and areas to work on. All in all it looks like a bright
future for the Yankees.
